On Photographing People ~ I have been a professional photographer since 1999, photographing families, newborns, kids of all ages, high schools seniors, and business head shots. I also photographed weddings until 2014. I enjoy connecting with people and watching their families grow and change throughout the years. I volunteer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, an organization that provides infant bereavement photography.
On Photographing Dogs ~ I cherished the family dog that I grew up with but did not become a dog owner myselft until 2007. I met two dogs who were liter mates, feral and living in a shelter at Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO). I had gone to ARNO to volunteer after Hurricane Katrina and to photograph the aftermath of the storm. Learning about shelter dogs and how resilient and forgiving they are, caused me to fall in love with dogs and I took Jackie home in 2007 and his brother Jesse came home in 2008. Photographing dogs at ARNO sparked a need for me to help dogs at my local shelter and to photograph the beloved pets of families. Dogs just make you smile - I can look at them and photograph them all day long!
On Other Topics ~ When I'm not creating pet portraits, shelter pet portraits, family portraits, baby portraits and business headshots, I'm spending time with family and friends, walking our dogs, hiking, exercising, gardening, reading or whatever else sounds like fun that day! You can often find me out with my mother (who is almost 80) taking photos of our own dogs, making costumes for them, trading household and garden chores or trying out new gluten free and dairy free recipes.
I am a member of Heartsspeak.org, Professional Photographers of America (PPA), accredited with Special Needs Kids Photography of America (SKPA), Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Bereavement Photography (NILMDTS) and am an Emergency Animal Rescue Services Volunteer (Red Rover).
